Mike Vance founded Houston Arts and Media in 2005 and has served as the organization’s Executive Director for the previous six years. A native of Houston, Mr. Vance has thirty years-experience in professional show business, writing and media work. He has produced, written and hosted over 50 documentaries and television programs, work for which he has received a dozen state, national and local awards. Mr. Vance’s most recent book is Houston Baseball: The Early Years, 1861-1961, and he serves as a lecturer at Rice University as a part of their Continuing Studies program. Mike is the Birth of Texas Series Producer and Project Director.
Tim Godwin serves as Houston Arts and Media’s Chief Editor and Director of Photography. Mr. Godwin has an extensive history serving as producer, director, technical director and camera operator at multiple local TV stations, resulting in thousands of hours of experience in producing, directing and filming live, live to tape and post produced programs. He is the recipient of a 2008 Lone Star Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports Editing for “Sports Off Center” and was nominated for another Lone Star Emmy in 2010 for his work on the historical documentary, “Tell Us Your Story- La Porte, Texas.” Tim is the Editor and Director of Photography for the Birth of Texas Series.
